These easy Cheesy Garlic Sausage Balls are packed with savory sausage, sharp cheddar cheese, garlic, and herbs. They’re crispy on the outside, tender and cheesy on the inside, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, parties, game days, or an easy grab-and-go snack.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) ground breakfast sausage
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups baking mix, such as Bisquick
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons milk, if needed
- Optional: ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes for a little heat
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Combine the ingredients: In a large bowl, add the sausage, shredded cheddar, baking mix, minced garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, and black pepper.
- Mix well: Use your hands or a sturdy spoon to mix everything until the ingredients are evenly combined and a soft dough forms. If the mixture seems too dry, add the milk 1 tablespoon at a time.
- Shape the sausage balls: Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it between your hands to form a small ball. Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Bake: Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and the sausage is fully cooked through.
- Serve: Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re delicious warm with ranch dressing, honey mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
- Use freshly shredded cheddar for the best cheesy texture.
- Mild or spicy breakfast sausage both work well.
- Don’t overmix the dough, or the sausage balls can become dense.
- For a make-ahead option, shape the balls and refrigerate them until ready to bake.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
These cheesy sausage bites are an easy appetizer that disappear fast—perfect for breakfast tables, holiday gatherings, potlucks, and game-day snacking!
