American Goulash (One-Pot Beef & Macaroni)
Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
Step 2
Add the diced onion and cook for about 4 minutes until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Step 3
Mix in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Step 4
Bring the mixture to a boil. Stir in the uncooked elbow macaroni.
Step 5
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Step 6
If using cheese, stir in the shredded cheddar until melted and creamy.
Step 7
Taste and adjust the seasoning. Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
