Ingredients
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 3 cups frozen shredded hashbrowns (slightly thawed)
- 1 packet (2.75 oz) sausage gravy mix
- 2 cups milk
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Nonstick cooking spray or a little butter for greasing the baking dish
- Salt and black pepper, to taste (optional)
- Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain any excess grease.
- Prepare the sausage gravy according to the packet directions using the 2 cups of milk. Stir until smooth and thickened, then fold in the cooked sausage.
- Cut each refrigerated biscuit into quarters and spread the pieces evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the thawed hashbrowns evenly over the biscuit pieces.
- Pour the sausage gravy mixture over the hashbrowns, making sure it is evenly distributed.
- Top with the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the biscuits are cooked through, the casserole is bubbling, and the cheese is melted and golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
