The smell alone will have everybody wandering into the kitchen asking when dinner’s ready. Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 30 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients:

* 1 pound ground beef
* 1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 (10.5-ounce) can French onion soup
* 1 cup beef broth
* 2 cups egg noodles
* 1 cup sour cream
* 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
* 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
* 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions:

1. Melt the butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
2. Add the sliced onions and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring often, until soft and deeply golden.
3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, then drain excess grease if needed.
4. Stir in the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
5. Pour in the French onion soup and beef broth, then stir in the egg noodles.
6. Cover and simmer for 12–15 minutes until the noodles are tender.
7. Stir in the sour cream and half of both cheeses until creamy and melted.
8. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Swiss cheese over the top.
9. Broil for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
10. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving hot.

Pro Tip:

Let the onions caramelize slowly instead of rushing them — that deep sweet onion flavor is what gives this skillet its rich “French onion soup” magic!
