Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 4–6

 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1½ cups beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)

 Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef
In a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
    Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add Onion & Garlic
Stir in the chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Build the Sauce
Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and bay leaf.
Stir well and bring to a gentle boil.
  4. Cook the Pasta
    Add the uncooked elbow macaroni.
Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Finish & Rest
    Remove the bay leaf.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Let sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

 Optional Add-Ins

  • Stir in cheddar cheese at the end for a creamy version
  • Add bell peppers for extra flavor
  • Sprinkle parsley on top for freshness

 Serving Suggestions

  • Serve hot with crusty bread or garlic toast
  • Pair with a simple green salad
  • Even better the next day as leftovers

 Tips

  • For richer flavor, use beef broth instead of water
  • Don’t overcook the pasta—stir often
  • Want it spicy? Add a pinch of red pepper flakes
