Cherry Heart Puff Pastries

Cherry Heart Puff Pastries (Easy Version)

 Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (or fresh cherry compote)
  • 4 oz (115 g) cream cheese (optional, for creamy layer)
  • 2–3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Prepare filling (optional creamy layer):
Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Roll & cut pastry:
Roll out puff pastry and cut into heart shapes using a cutter.
  4. Create borders:
Lightly score a smaller heart inside each piece (don’t cut through).
This helps the edges puff up nicely.
  5. Add filling:
    • Spread cream cheese mixture in the center (optional)
    • Spoon cherry filling on top
  6. Brush edges:
Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake:
Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Finish:
Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.

 Quick Notes (from recipe results)

  • You can make it super simple: just puff pastry + cherry filling.
  • Cream cheese adds a cheesecake-style flavor that’s very popular.
  • These pastries are often made for Valentine’s Day or special occasions because of the heart shape.
