Sausage, Rich Gravy, and Biscuit Pie
Ingredients
- 1 lb sausage
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade biscuits)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Break it into small crumbles as it cooks.
- Make the gravy:
- Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir for 1–2 minutes.
- Gradually add the milk while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes until the gravy thickens.
- Season with salt and black pepper.
- Assemble the pie:
- Pour the sausage gravy mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Separate the biscuit dough into individual biscuits and place them on top of the gravy.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown.
