Wonton Wrapper Lasagna Bites

Wonton Wrapper Lasagna Bites

Ingredients

  • 1 package wonton wrappers (about 24-30 pieces) — use square wrappers
  • 1 lb ground Italian turkey (or ground beef/sausage)
  • 1 ½ jars (8 oz each) pasta sauce (e.g., marinara)
  • 1 cup cottage cheese (or ricotta cheese)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil (for muffin tin)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
  2. Brown the meat: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey (or your chosen meat) until no longer pink. Drain any excess fat. Add ½ of the pasta sauce to the meat and stir to combine. Set aside.
  3. Mix the cheese: In a bowl, combine the cottage (or ricotta) cheese, ½ cup shredded mozzarella, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Prepare the tin: Lightly spray or oil a standard muffin tin so the bites don’t stick.
  5. Layer the wonton cups:
    • Place 2 wonton wrappers in the bottom of each muffin cup, staggering them so they overlap and form a little cup.
  6. Build each bite:
    • Spoon a bit of the meat sauce into each wonton cup.
    • Add about 1 tbsp of the cheese mixture.
    • Add another spoonful of meat sauce, then top with shredded mozzarella.
    • Repeat to fill the cup, ending with cheese on top.
  7. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the edges of the wonton wrappers are golden.
  8. Cool & serve: Let them cool for a few minutes, then use a butter knife to gently loosen each bite from the tin. Sprinkle a little extra dried basil on top if you like, and serve warm.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, stir Italian seasoning or a pinch of oregano into the meat sauce.
  • Ricotta cheese can be used instead of cottage for a creamier texture.
  • Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping!
