Southern 3-Ingredient Honey Glazed Carrots
A simple Southern-style side dish that turns humble carrots into a glossy, sweet, buttery favorite. Perfect with roasted chicken, grilled meats, or holiday dinners.
Ingredients
- 500 g (about 1 lb) carrots, peeled and sliced into sticks or rounds
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Prep the carrots
Wash, peel, and cut the carrots into evenly sized pieces so they cook at the same rate. - Boil until tender
Place the carrots in a pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook for 8–10 minutes until just fork-tender. Drain well. - Glaze in butter and honey
Return the drained carrots to the pot over low heat. Add the butter and honey. Stir gently as the butter melts and the carrots become coated in a shiny glaze. - Simmer to thicken
Let the carrots cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze slightly thickens and clings to the carrots. - Serve warm
Transfer to a serving dish and spoon any extra glaze over the top.
Tips
- Add a pinch of salt if you like a sweet-salty balance.
- A sprinkle of black pepper or fresh parsley adds extra flavor.
- For deeper flavor, sauté the boiled carrots in a pan instead of the pot during the glazing step.
