Classic Hamburger Hash

A simple, hearty skillet meal made with ground beef, potatoes, and onions. It’s budget-friendly, filling, and perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

 Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ cup beef broth (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

 Instructions

  1. Cook the potatoes
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften and turn golden.
  2. Add onions and garlic
Stir in the diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Brown the beef
Push the potatoes to one side of the pan and add the ground beef. Cook and break it apart with a spoon until browned, about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Season and combine
Mix everything together. Add salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well so the flavors combine.
  5. Add broth (optional)
Pour in the beef broth and let everything cook for 3–5 minutes until the potatoes are fully tender and the flavors blend together.
  6. Finish and serve
Sprinkle chopped parsley on top and serve hot.
