Bacon Fried Cabbage
Ingredients:
- 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
- 7–9 oz (200–250g) bacon, cut into small pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (if needed)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy.
- Remove excess grease if necessary, leaving a little in the pan for flavor.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and slightly golden.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped cabbage and mix well to combine with the bacon and onions.
- Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Cover and cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Tip: For extra flavor, add a splash of apple cider vinegar or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice before serving.
