Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 lb (450 g) beef flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (optional but recommended)
Sauce
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 cup water or beef broth
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, water (or broth), and sesame oil. Set aside. - Cook the broccoli
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
Remove from the pan and set aside. - Cook the beef
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan.
Add the sliced beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until browned. - Add aromatics
Stir in garlic and ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. - Combine & sauce
Return broccoli to the pan.
Pour in the sauce and stir well.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly. - Serve
Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed white rice, brown rice, or noodles.
Tips
- Slice beef very thin for tenderness.
- If you like heat, add chili flakes or a dash of sriracha.
- Don’t overcook broccoli—keep it slightly crisp.
