Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 lb (450 g) beef flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (optional but recommended)

Sauce

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, water (or broth), and sesame oil. Set aside.
  2. Cook the broccoli
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add broccoli and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Cook the beef
Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the pan.
Add the sliced beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring, until browned.
  4. Add aromatics
Stir in garlic and ginger. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine & sauce
    Return broccoli to the pan.
Pour in the sauce and stir well.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
  6. Serve
Remove from heat and serve hot over steamed white rice, brown rice, or noodles.

Tips

  • Slice beef very thin for tenderness.
  • If you like heat, add chili flakes or a dash of sriracha.
  • Don’t overcook broccoli—keep it slightly crisp.
