Garlic Butter Beef and Rice Skillet with Cheddar Parmesan Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1½ tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 cups beef broth (or water + beef bouillon)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
  2. Add garlic & seasoning
Stir in garlic, onion powder, and Cajun seasoning. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add rice & broth
Add the uncooked rice and beef broth. Stir well, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  4. Make it creamy
Stir in butter and heavy cream. Let it simmer uncovered for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Cheese time
Add cheddar and Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and creamy.
  6. Finish & serve
Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley if you like. Serve hot!

Tips

  • Want it spicy? Add chili flakes or extra Cajun seasoning
  • Want it extra cheesy? Throw in mozzarella too
  • Works great as a one-pan dinner for busy nights
