Oven-Roasted Stuffed Cabbage Steaks with Shrimp & Sausage
A rich and flavorful dish made with tender roasted cabbage, juicy shrimp, and smoky sausage. Perfect for lunch or dinner!
Ingredients
For the Cabbage:
- 1 large green cabbage
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper
- Paprika
- Garlic powder
For the Filling:
- 300 g (10 oz) shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 200 g (7 oz) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter or oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Chili flakes or cayenne (optional)
Optional Garlic Butter Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- Juice of ½ lemon
- Pinch of paprika or Cajun seasoning
Instructions
- Prepare the Cabbage
- Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
- Slice the cabbage into thick round “steaks.”
- Place on a baking tray, brush with olive oil, and season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
- Roast for 25–30 minutes, until tender and lightly golden.
- Make the Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.
- Sauté onion and garlic until fragrant.
- Add sausage slices and cook until browned.
- Stir in bell peppers and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Add shrimp and season with salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, and chili.
- Cook just 2–3 minutes (shrimp cook fast).
- Stuff & Bake
- Remove cabbage from oven and gently open the center.
- Fill with the shrimp and sausage mixture.
- Return to oven and bake for 10–15 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Optional Sauce
- Melt butter with garlic, add lemon juice and seasoning.
- Drizzle over cabbage before serving.
