Tortilla Burgers (Smash Burger Tacos)

These viral smash burger tacos combine the juiciness of a classic smash burger with the crispiness of a pan-fried tortilla. Fast, cheesy, and insanely good!

 Ingredients

For the Burger Tacos

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (80/20 for best juiciness)
  • 6 small flour tortillas (soft taco size)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Toppings

  • 6 slices American cheese (or cheddar)
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, thinly sliced
  • ½ small onion, finely chopped
  • Pickles (optional)

For the Burger Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

 Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, paprika, and garlic powder. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Season the Beef
In a bowl, combine ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently.
  3. Assemble the Tacos
Divide the beef into 6 portions. Press a thin layer of beef directly onto one side of each tortilla, covering it edge to edge.
  4. Cook the Smash Burger Tacos
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
Place tortillas beef-side down in the hot pan. Press firmly with a spatula.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the beef is browned and crispy.
  5. Flip & Add Cheese
Flip the tortillas, add a slice of cheese on the cooked beef, and cook for another 1–2 minutes until the tortilla is golden and crispy.
  6. Assemble & Serve
Remove from heat. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and drizzle with burger sauce.
Fold like a taco and serve immediately.

 Tips

  • Use a cast-iron skillet for the best crust
  • Don’t overwork the beef — keep it juicy
  • Serve with fries or chips for the full burger vibe
