Meat and Potato Casserole
Ingredients
- 500 g ground beef (or minced meat of choice)
- 700 g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 cup (240 ml) beef broth
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk or cream
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme or oregano (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven
- Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
- Cook the meat
- Heat oil in a skillet.
- Sauté onion until soft, add garlic.
- Add ground beef, cook until browned.
- Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and herbs.
- Assemble the casserole
- Grease a baking dish.
- Layer half of the potatoes at the bottom.
- Spread the cooked meat over the potatoes.
- Add the remaining potatoes on top.
- Add liquid & cheese
- Pour broth and milk (or cream) evenly over the dish.
- Sprinkle cheese on top.
- Bake
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until golden and tender.
- Rest & serve
- Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

- Bell peppers
- Cream of mushroom soup (for extra creaminess)
