Crispy Deep-Fried Marshmallows: The Ultimate Gooey Delight
Ingredients
- 20–24 large marshmallows
- Wooden skewers or lollipop sticks (optional, for dipping or frying)
For the Batter
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
For Frying
- Vegetable oil, for deep frying
Instructions
- Prepare the marshmallows
- Insert a skewer or stick into each marshmallow if using.
- Place marshmallows in the freezer for 20–30 minutes (this helps prevent melting too fast).
- Make the batter
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the egg, milk, and vanilla.
- Whisk until smooth and slightly thick.
- Heat the oil
- Heat oil to 175°C / 350°F in a deep pot or fryer.
- Coat and fry
- Dip each marshmallow into the batter, coating completely.
- Carefully place into hot oil.
- Fry for 10–15 seconds, turning once, until golden and crispy.
- Drain and serve
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately while hot and gooey inside
