Bacon Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese Casserole
All the flavors of a juicy bacon cheeseburger… baked into a cheesy, crispy grilled cheese casserole
Ingredients
Beef & Bacon Mixture
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 6 slices bacon, cooked & chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Grilled Cheese Layers
- 8 slices sandwich bread
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup mayonnaise or softened butter (for spreading)
Egg Custard
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Cook the Filling
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned.
Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
Stir in bacon, salt, pepper, paprika, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
Remove from heat. - Prepare the Bread
Spread mayo or butter on one side of each bread slice. - Assemble the Casserole
- Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F
- Grease a baking dish
- Place 4 slices of bread (buttered side down)
- Add half of the beef mixture
- Sprinkle half of the cheese
- Add remaining bread slices (buttered side up)
- Add Custard
Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
Pour evenly over the casserole.
Top with remaining beef mixture and cheese. - Bake
Cover with foil and bake 25 minutes.
Uncover and bake 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly. - Rest & Serve
Let it rest 5 minutes, slice, and enjoy
Tips:
- Add pickles or jalapeños for extra burger vibes
- Serve with fries or a simple salad
