CHEESE STUFFED PRETZELS
Soft on the inside, golden and chewy on the outside, with melty cheese in every bite!
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Filling
- Mozzarella cheese, cut into cubes
For Boiling
- 6 cups water
- 2 tablespoons baking soda
Topping
- Melted butter
- Coarse salt or pretzel salt
Instructions
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
Add the warm water and melted butter, then knead until a soft, smooth dough forms.
Cover and let rest for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Stuff the Pretzels
Divide the dough into equal portions.
Flatten each piece and place a cube of mozzarella in the center.
Wrap the dough tightly around the cheese and seal well to prevent leaking.
Shape into balls or classic pretzel shapes.
Boil in Baking Soda Water
Bring the water to a boil and add the baking soda.
Boil each pretzel for 20–30 seconds, then remove and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
5️⃣ Finish & Serve
Brush the hot pretzels with melted butter.
Sprinkle with coarse salt and serve warm.
Tips
- Make sure the dough is sealed tightly so the cheese doesn’t escape
- You can add garlic powder or herbs to the butter for extra flavor
- Best enjoyed warm while the cheese is perfectly melted
