Baked Cabbage Steaks
Ingredients
- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
- Optional: 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare Cabbage:
- Remove any damaged outer leaves.
- Slice the cabbage into ½–¾ inch thick “steaks.” Keep the core intact to help hold the slices together.
- Season:
- Brush both sides of each cabbage slice with olive oil.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- If using, sprinkle Parmesan or nutritional yeast on top.
- Bake:
- Place the cabbage steaks on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the edges are crispy and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Serve warm as a side dish, or top with a drizzle of balsamic glaze or hot sauce for extra flavor.
