Garlic Butter Beef and Rice Skillet

with Cheddar Parmesan Sauce

Ingredients

For the Beef & Rice

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1½ tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 cups beef broth (or chicken broth)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

For the Cheddar Parmesan Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk (warm)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

 Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add Flavor
Add garlic, onion powder, Cajun seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add Rice
Stir in uncooked rice, making sure it’s well coated with the beef and spices.
  4. Simmer
Pour in beef broth and add butter. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Slowly whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until slightly thickened.
  6. Add Cheese
Stir in cheddar and Parmesan until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Combine & Serve
Pour the cheese sauce over the beef and rice skillet. Gently mix or drizzle on top. Garnish with parsley if desired.

 Serving Tips

  • Serve hot with a simple green salad
  • Add sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms for extra flavor
  • Make it spicy with chili flakes or hot sauce
